COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN (CAPC)
The CAPC program provides supports for families with children 0-6 through playgroups, social outings, community events, and one-on-one services.
The CAPC program provides parents opportunities to connect to culture while learning traditional ways of parenting, arts and nutrition and creating a supportive environment for community to support and learn from each other.
Included in the CAPC program is the weekly Food Security Program (food bank). The food security program is every Wednesday at 297 Savard Avenue in Vanier. It is Ottawa’s only weekly food security program. The program provides food and other essentials to Inuit Elders, families and individuals that require support in acquiring healthy and nutriscious meals.
Another highlight of programming is the weekly Pilimmaksarniq Playgroup. The group gets together every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm at the 297 Savard Avenue in Vanier. The weekly get together includes cultural education, crafting, country food and teachings.
