The Candian Statistics census which was completed in 2001 determined that the Province of Ontario had one of the largest number of Inuit that are living outside of the Inuit land claim
areas.
According to Statistics Canada in 2001- Survey Number 97F0011XCB2001001, the majority of Urban Inuit are in
Newfoundland (1,485) Ontario (1,370), Alberta (1,080), British Columbia (780), NorthWest Territories (Urban areas) (655), Quebec (Urban areas) (575),
Nova Scotia (345), Manitoba (330) Saskatchewan (225), New Brunswick (160), Yukon (130) and PEI (20)
In Canada, approximately 7,160 Inuit live outside of thier land claim settlement regions.
