Family Photo Day is this month!

Would you like photo's of your family to give out at Christmas? We will be hosting a family fun and photo day this month, November 26th.

Tungasuvvingat Inuit will bring in a professional photographer to take quality photo's of you and your family. Print copies will be made and ready for distribution before Christmas holidays. Just in time for you to be able to give your photo's to familiy and friends.

We are asking participants to sign up for thier photo's. The location of the photo shoot will be announced later this month.

TUNGASUVVINGAT INUIT BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Tungasuvvingat Inuit has 9 seats on their board of directors. All of the board members are of Inuit decent. The board members are elected each year at TI's Annual General Meeting.
TI's Annual General meeting on January 7, 2011 presented nine (9) names standing for nomination to the Board and nine (9) vacancies.
During the AGM, each member in attendance cast one ballot for their choice of 9 members.
After all the ballots were cast, the final tally of votes resulted in the following individuals being elected to TI's board:

  • Looee Okalik
  • Sally Webster
  • Rhoda Innuksuk
  • Bruce Uviluq - Board Appointment

The new TI president is David Servoak, Vice President is Heather Ochalski and Secretary Treasurer is John Webster


Community Monthly Lunch

There is a monthly community lunch featuring traditional foods as well as urban fair. The focus of the lunch is active living and healthy eating in a community setting. The lunch is held on the third Thursday of each month and is served at 206 Montreal Road at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Parish Hall. Lunch is served at noon. (first come, first served).

Inuit Community Food Bank

There are new hours for the Inuit food bank.
Food bank services will be available for community members each Wednesday from
1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

Inuit Women's Healing Circle

TThe weekly women’s Healing Circle is closed for the summer but will continue in the fall every Monday from 5:00p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 297 Savard Ave.
The healing circle provides a safe and healing environment for women to share and support each other. Inuit country food was provided as well as support with childcare and transportation for those attending the circle. For more information please contact Hannah Oolayou Ebokem, 613-749-4500.


What's happening at 297 Savard Ave.

Community services at 297 Sarvard Ave. is a place to provide community members with a safe environment, telephone and counselling services.

While at the service centre, community members can access the services of the community support workers to help with support, referrals to other agencies, crisis intervention and community advocacy.
The community services centre is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed during the lunch hour (12-1)

Community support worker- Hannah is available to provide services during this time. Please ask about your workers availability, and book their time to assit you.
